Is this a new scholarship programme, or do you have experience running one?
Our staff have delivered a 16-19 scholarship locally for six years and brought that proven model with us AFC Greenwich Borough.
- Same coaching and education team, refined over six cohorts
- The same weekly structure for training, study, welfare, and analysis
- Clear pathway into senior football, with scholars featuring for our Men’s First Team this season
- Recent pathway success includes academy players progressing to professional clubs

Who is this scholarship for?
Players aged 16 to 19 who want a serious football and education programme. You must meet our academic entry criteria and commit to the weekly training and study schedule.

How are players selected?
Trials, coach assessment, academic check, and conduct review. We score technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and academic readiness.

What are the academic entry requirements?
Minimum GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. If you need to resit, we provide support and timetable space.

Where is the programme based?
We operate from three separate sites, dependent on the course you are studying.

Why should I choose AFC Greenwich Borough?
- We are a 3-star England Football accredited club
- We provide a pathway from our youth academy, to our Scholarship Programme, and into our Men’s First Team.
- Our Men’s First Team compete at Step 6, Southern Counties East Football League, Division One.
- So far, 13 Scholars have made an appearance in our Men’s First Team during the 2025/26 season.
- Two players that were part of our Academy are still playing as part of our Men’s First Team.

- Two FIFA-approved 3G pitches, 100m x 64m, fenced and floodlit (subject to planning
- Scholars-only performance centre with gym, physios present, and a rehab and wellness suit
- Analysis and learning on site with classrooms, AV kit, fast Wi-Fi, and a dedicated analysis/media room
- Matchday-ready environment with spectator areas and full on-site operations
- Lifestyle and recovery options including six padel courts, a golf simulator, and quiet chill spaces
- Safe and easy access with CCTV, staffed presence, on-site parking, 12 EV chargers, and accessibility bays
- One campus for training, study, and games, so scholars spend more time improving and less time travelling

Who coaches the programme?
All weekly sessions are led by UEFA-B licensed coaches, with UEFA-A licensed tutoring.
Reece Parara, has experience playing at Millwall, and leading age groups in pro academies at West Ham United and Crystal Palace, currently AFC Greenwich Borough men’s first team head coach.
Stefan Payne – former EFL striker with Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, Bristol Rovers and Tranmere, now playing and coaching within the club.
Sid Nelson – defender developed at Millwall, over 100 senior games across the EFL and National League; currently at Chatham Town.
Sam Corne – midfielder and Maidstone United captain; known for scoring in their FA Cup run and leading standards day to day.
Simon Beard – West Ham youth graduate turned coach with academy and U23 roles at Welling United.
