  • Why has the academy name changed?

We’ve spent years building one of the most successful youth academies in the area. Now it’s time to give our players more.

The name change reflects our ambition. However, what hasn’t changed is the heart of our academy. The coaches. The standards. The culture.

Now, we’re able to give our players a true identity, long-term opportunity, and something they can grow into.

We are now providing players with a clear pathway into senior football, all within one club. Which they did not have before.

This means more opportunities for players to succeed at a senior level due to continuity throughout their entire development.

  • How will you ensure the youth academy remains one of the best in the area?

We’re changing our name, but everything that made us one of the best academies in the area remains the same.

The same coaches, same standards, same culture. Now with better facilities, a clear pathway, and a bigger future.

Our partnership with GB10 will provide top-class pitches, classrooms, scholarship opportunities, gym space, and recovery. Everything a player needs to develop is here.

GB10 is our hub. It brings our players, teams, and coaches together under one roof, which means better development, better communication, and a real sense of belonging.

We compete in the Junior Premier League’s (JPL) Saturday programme, a nationally respected platform that delivers a more competitive level of football than traditional Sunday leagues. This means better opposition, a faster playing standard, and greater visibility to scouts and professional academies. We intentionally focus on Saturday football to give our players the best possible development and progression opportunities. However, we also compete in the Kent Youth League on a Sunday too.

  • Will anything change in terms of coaches, training standards, or how the academy is run?

We understand that change always brings questions. However, please be reassured that this isn’t a new academy. It’s the same people with the same purpose.

Greenwich Borough has the same coaches, same standards, and same culture that makes us one of the best academies in the area.

The biggest difference you will see is that we’re giving players a true identity, long-term opportunity, and something they can grow into.

Parents always want to know what’s next for their child. And this change means we will now be able to answer those questions with confidence.

  • What do the coaches have to say?

Our coaches see the vision with first-rate facilities and advanced development areas, such as strength training, analysis, and individual player development.

We prioritise a 360 approach to technical, tactical, emotional, and psychological development, with the prime objective of enabling as many players as possible to progress into professional and senior football.

  • What do the players have to say?

Feedback from our players is that they are motivated by the investment in pitches, access to gym facilities and analysis rooms.  Ultimately, it’s given our players the vision for their future and a new home.

And most importantly, it’s the same coaches they trust, so they feel secure and supported through the change, and they’re looking forward to growing together with their friends under one club.

"We've spent a decade building a high-performance team and creating an inspirational environment for our players. Now it's time to give them an authentic pathway to first team football."
