AFC Greenwich Borough is proud to announce a major milestone for our academy programme, as Peter Balogun becomes the first academy player to sign an official first team contract with the club.
This is a significant moment not just for Peter, but for the entire pathway we are building. His progression reflects the standards, structure, and development focus driving the academy forward.
Peter signed his contract in the presence of his dad, before completing the formalities alongside Academy Director Tom McNamee and Men’s First Team Assistant Head Coach Simon Beard. It marks an achievement built on dedication, consistency, and a clear commitment to improving every day.
A proud moment for player and club
Peter’s journey through the academy highlights exactly what the club is striving to create: an authentic pathway for talented, hard-working young players to progress into senior football within the same environment that shaped them.
His development is a testament to:
- The structure and coaching within our academy
- The pathway linking youth football directly to the senior squad
- His own work rate, resilience, and willingness to learn
This isn’t only a personal achievement for Peter, it is proof of concept for the club’s long-term vision.
The first of many
Peter’s signing is the beginning of a new chapter for our academy. As the programme continues to grow, more young players will follow in his footsteps, demonstrating that opportunities at AFC Greenwich Borough are real, tangible, and earned through commitment and character.
We could not be prouder of Peter’s achievement, and we look forward to watching him continue his development within the men’s first team setup.
